Mission
To ensure Special Education Departments have the essential resources to support teachers and provide the individualized support that every student deserves.
Goal
To streamline the IEP process by writing high-quality, individualized education programs, freeing Special Education Teachers to focus on what truly matters—directly engaging with and supporting students.
Core Values
Authenticity. We strive to be true to our organizational beliefs, values, and spirit, regardless of the pressure we may be under to do otherwise. Authenticity requires that our actions align with our values and ideals.
Boldness. We encourage ourselves and others to take risks, commit to high expectations, and show commitment to making positive change for students with disabilities.
Dignity. We believe in and protect the right of a person to be valued and respected for their own sake, simply because they are.
Equity. We recognize each person has different circumstances and needs, meaning different groups of people need different resources and opportunities allocated to them to thrive.
Inclusivity. We create spaces intentionally designed with and for people at the margins so that all may feel they can thrive and belong.
Equal Opportunity. We believe public education is the gateway to opportunity. All students have the human and civil right to a quality public education that develops their potential, independence, and character.
A Just Society. We believe public education is vital to building respect for the worth, dignity, and equality of every individual in our diverse society.
Professionalism. We believe that the expertise and judgment of education professionals are critical to student success. We maintain the highest professional standards, and we expect the status, compensation, and respect due all professionals.
Partnership. We believe partnerships with parents, families, communities, and other stakeholders are essential to quality public education and student success.
Collective Action. We believe individuals are strengthened when they work together for the common good. As education professionals, we improve both our professional status and the quality of public education when we unite and advocate collectively.
Overview
The IEP Writing Collaborative specializes in support services designed to enhance the effectiveness of your special education department, particularly in the area of drafting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). We recognize the vital importance of creating high-quality, compliant, and individualized IEPs to support the diverse needs of students.
The IEP Writing Collaborative is a group of highly qualified, licensed Special Education Teachers that have come together to help understaffed School Districts. There are currently over 100 Licensed Special Education Teachers, 70% with 10+ years of experience in Special Education.
Our role at the IEP Writing Collaborative is to take on much of the IEP Writing process so that Special Education Teachers can spend more of their time directly serving students with IEPs, so ALL students get the support they deserve and need to reach their full potential. We provide the following:
- Expert IEP Drafting: Our experienced Special Education Teachers work with your staff to draft IEPs that are thorough, compliant, and individualized to meet each student's unique needs and goals.
- Compliance Review: Our team conducts detailed reviews of draft IEPs to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, minimizing the risk of non-compliance and ensuring the highest standards of documentation.
The IEP Writing Collaborative is designed to support Special Education Departments by working with Special Education Teachers to gather present levels and baselines, to create a DRAFT IEP, that the IEP Team can then take into their IEP Meetings. Any necessary updates are made by the IEP Team, that directly serve the student. The IEP Team then finalizes the IEP.
The benefits of partnering with us include:
- Ensuring compliance
- Saving time for your Special Education Teachers
- Attracting and retaining qualified Special Education Teachers by reducing paperwork
- Decreasing the risk of losing funding due to out-of-compliance IEPs
By partnering with the IEP Writing Collaborative, your Special Education Department can enhance its capacity to develop quality and impactful IEPs that truly address the needs of your students. Our goal is to support your educators in their mission to provide exceptional, individualized education for students with IEPs.
