Hello, my name is Donovan DiLorenzo. I bring over 20 years of experience in education and community development, with the past nine years focused on Special Education. I hold a Master’s in Education and a Bachelor’s in Business, and my professional journey has taken me from advertising and marketing in New York City to teaching in New Orleans Public Schools, serving with the Peace Corps in Africa, volunteering with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India, and working with organizations such as United Way and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
In my current role, as a Remote IEP Writer/Developer for one of the largest school districts in Arizona, I am responsible for drafting IEPs, coordinating and facilitating IEP meetings, finalizing documentation, and ensuring compliance. This work allows me to combine my passion for individualized education with my commitment to serving students, families, and schools.
In response to the growing special education teacher shortage, described by John Eisenberg, Executive Director of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education, as a “crisis of epic proportions,” a group of dedicated special education teachers formed the IEP Writing Collaborative. Our mission is to support school districts by providing high quality, compliant IEPs through licensed special education professionals. By easing the administrative burden on teachers, we help ensure that every student receives the individualized support they need to succeed.
I feel fortunate to be part of this effort and truly appreciate the support of such an incredible community. I am happily married to my wife, Jenny, and we have three amazing daughters. As a family, we love to travel, connect with people, explore different cultures, and spend time with loved ones. I am excited for the journey ahead.
